I can’t remember a time when I didn’t like trying on and getting a new hat. My mother always loved hats and would wear them with all of her outfits. Hats that were big, small, bright and some so colorful while others that were oh so dull. (I guess I sound a little like Dr. Seuss). Anyway I grew up with hats, and loved the personality they added to whatever was worn. Now, in remembering my mother’s love of hats, I would be remiss in not mentioning that she wasn’t the only hat person in my family. My dad was a hat wearer too. He loved caps especially baseball caps and wide brim hats for that especially sunny day. Hats for my family were so familiar.
So that got me to thinking about how the MedCap team could incorporate my family’s love of hats into scrub hats. It’s not just the practical aspect of having hats that are able to cover the head and keep the hair out of the way for any medical needs, I wanted hats that looked great, have personality, and are fun to wear. Well with our scrub hats, I believe we have accomplished that. MedCap has a wide variety of styles, great fit and fun fabric all in one. Perhaps best of all, our hats are all handmade right here in the USA!
Our patterns are not only functional, but the fabrics we choose are from new and well-known designers. For me that is especially exciting! We go through thousands of fabric selections before we decide on those that will make up our hats. Additionally, if we are using a hat pattern that utilizes two different types of fabric, we take the time to pick out a wonderful matching look so that the hat always compliments your fantastic style. So if you like scrub hats and medical surgical hats that are so cute that you can wear them for clinic, office and regular “oh my hair days” try a MedCap designer hat. ….beautiful!
It seems as a new year has come around again, we are all thinking about what we can change or do differently this year, you know, a resolution. What Webster defines as "A formal expression of opinion or intent… firmness of purpose”. That sounds great, has enough of, well, that breath of reason. However, I find each year I have taken the resolutions that I didn’t accomplish in previous years and either made them more unreasonable by adding a lot more to them or subtracting the good parts or modified them so they really don’t seem like any change at all. What is that all about? Maybe, just maybe, I really don’t like change after all.
Hum…Well, after given that some thought, I don’t think it is entirely true. What I think is that my New Year resolutions are going to have to include a definite care factor. In fact that care factor is going to include me, 100%, you know the real person. Sometimes those are the areas that are the most difficult to address. When we work in a helping-people career, often we nurture and support all those people around us, which is a good thing, but we forget about or fail to nurture ourselves. We justify it by saying we don’t have the time, I'm just too tired, we will take time later, and then, we will just mentally note sometime in the future that never seems to take place.
What can we do to take care of ourselves? Maybe, it's a new book that has come out that we want to read. Or, a recipe that a friend gave us we have always wanted to try. See, it doesn’t have to be a big thing, but it does have to add something to our lives. Try to find things you can do for yourself that makes you smile inside.
Yep, this year I am adding self care tasks to my to-do list. My new year resolutions include an inner smile feature. Then, just maybe, the resolutions I make to myself will be ones I can finally accomplish.
Remember the old days when doctors and nurses wore that same scrub blue uniform?

Their scrub hats for women come in a wide selection of colors and patterns, allowing you to choose the hats that show off your personal style. There is everything from scream-out-loud patterns to more demure colors and prints. Medcap offers scrub hats for women with both synthetic and natural fibers, each with their own benefits: Polyester - this fabric can take a beating and still look good as new. A main benefit of polyester is that it can be crushed and/or scrunched up and it will still emerge wrinkle free and hold its original shape. Synthetic fibers are very strong which means it will stand the test of time and is easy to wash, dry, and wear. Cotton - If you run on the hot side, or find yourself sweating under those warm surgical lights, this might be the fabric for you. Cotton is breathable and helps heat escape away from your body, rather than trapping it like some synthetic fibers can. Medcap even offers organic cotton scrub materials so that you can remain eco-conscious and stylish at the same time. Your hair length can help to determine which style of scrub hats for women is right is right for you. Long hair - take that pony tail and wrap it up in something fashionable. The La Barrette Tieback style scrub hats for women is the perfect option. Fly away strands of hair are no match for this hat and the weight of your ponytail will be supported by the tie back. Plus, you get to retain a look that's both feminine and individual. It's win-win. Short hair - less is probably more for you so consider one of Medcap's attractive prints offered in the Snappi Cap style. These scrub hats for women are quick and easy to put on and will show off your unique style without constant adjustments during your shift. Medium hair - You will want to try the adjustable Bouffant style hat. These remain secure on your head during your shift, but have enough extra 'poof' to hold the weight of your hair securely. Scrub hats for women don't have to be boring or run of the mill. Medcap's scrub hats for women make sure that you are comfortable and stylish.
The medical community has come a long way in providing sanitary conditions for hospital employees and patients who use their facilities. In the past, medical professionals wore their normal home attire to work just like other professionals. You would then wear white aprons that were completely an eye sore at the end of surgical operations. Body fluids such as blood were clearly visible and scared the patient’s loved ones so there was a need for a more subtle uniform that was not as bright as white yet still presented a sanitary and clean medical professional.
Surgical hats and scrubs were thus born from the need to protect medical professionals and their patients from germs and infections. A scrub which is the official term for all things related to the medical professional’s uniform includes surgical gloves, gowns and hats. This uniform is so popular it even has a TV series behind it. Scrubs are liked by the medical community because of the ease at which they are cleaned, they also are very comfortable for you to wear around the hospital or even when performing intense surgical procedures. You will never have to worry about ironing your scrubs as they are wrinkle free and can be washed and dried in an instant.
MedCap is the place for you to buy all your surgical hats in order to keep your hair back and in place. It would be unprofessional to keep brushing hair off your face or leave strands of it on a patient’s bed. Wearing the surgical hats can give you peace of mind that allows you to focus on the work at hand. These hats are available in tieback, bouffant and patent mesh scrub styles and they are available to suit your personality and mood. The material used to make these surgical hats is quality polyester, a fiber that maintains its shape while at the same time resisting wrinkling.
Cotton is perfect for making surgical hats and scrubs as it is absorbent, takes heat away from the body and is stronger when wet. A perfect combination is the use of cotton and polyester to create poplin, which is suitable for surgical hats and scrubs. Furthermore, these materials used to make surgical hats can be washed and dried in minutes after performing surgery to reveal a clean and professional look.
MedCap is committed to using environment friendly products that leave little or no impact at all to the environment. Growing organic cotton avoids using genetically altered cotton seeds, does not require synthetic pesticides and fertilizers that are harsh to the environment. It also keeps the soil fertile as only natural seeds and manure are going into the ground when growing the cotton. Federal regulations require that the cotton be grown in a certain prescribed way to meet standards that qualify it to be organic. MedCap currently has men and women’s surgical hats and caps made from organic cotton.
When it comes to any type of surgical procedures the top priority is cleanliness. Any doctor or nurse involved must “Scrub in” and wear proper dress like scrub hats before entering the procedure room. With most women having longer hair it is imperative that scrub hats be worn. Did you know that until the early 1800’s doctors wore everyday clothes with a mere butcher’s apron in the operating room? The apron was worn to block any bodily fluids or blood from the patient. Then with the Spanish flu epidemic it was necessary for the use of gauze masks. In the 1970’s we introduced the green colored surgical gowns which over the years have become known as “scrubs”. Naturally with time everything has become more accustom and made to fit personality. Surgical scrub hats for women were introduced as an extra measure to assure that women’s hair was kept back. Now and days there are just as many female doctors as there are male. So companies have to adapt to the female market as well. When a doctor is performing a procedure the last thing they need is their hair in their face causing a horrible distraction. Even worse than that, you wouldn’t want random hair contaminating the site because scrub hats for women were not worn. When gowns and scrubs are designed they were always disposable. It seemed like the logical thing to do. But now as people wear scrubs on a daily basis it is becoming quite costly to continue. So the debate begins “Which is better deposable or reusable”? Let’s take scrub hats for women for instance, which would be a better buy for them? Any medical professional will tell you that from the time they clock in until the time they clock it is a constant race. For woman it used to be the routine to throw your hair in a ponytail and go. Now with scrub hats for women, they can pull their hair under the cap and go. So for the sole argument of which one is more convenient I believe that it could go either way. With disposal you can simply grab a new one each time and with reusable you can wash and reuse. It will all come down to cost. You should do a lot of research to decide if your scrubs are used more in a sterile environment or in everyday office use. Scrub hats for women should be thrown away after being used in a sterile environment, but when she is doing her rounds a reusable hat will be sufficient. A compromise would be to invest in both. Have some disposable scrub hats for women available outside the operating rooms, and give each female employee a few of the reusable for everyday use.
