"Oh, There You Are."

Okay, what’s going on?

Did I just see holiday decorations in the store?

I’m pretty sure I did.

And then I go online and there it is—the countdown. Only so many days until the holidays!

Really?

Do I need that kind of stress right now? I was doing perfectly fine not counting.

I’m still trying to figure out where September went, and apparently someone thinks I need to know how many shopping days I have left.

But here’s the funny part.

We complain about seeing all that stuff too early—and then we stop and look at it.

Maybe we see something that makes us smile. Something that reminds us of somebody. Or something we know would be just right for that person who is nearly impossible to buy for.

And, okay, sometimes we see something for ourselves.

That counts too.

There is something kind of nice about the familiar things starting to show up again. Not because we need to rush through October or start living three months ahead of ourselves.

It’s more like running into an old friend you weren’t expecting to see.

Oh, there you are.

Maybe that’s really what we like about this time of year.

Because most of us have our own “there you are” things.

The coffee cup we always reach for. The shoes that should probably have been replaced six months ago but somehow haven't been. The jacket that lives permanently in the car because apparently that is its home now.

Nothing particularly exciting.

Until you can't find one of them.

Then suddenly it's very exciting.

And work has its own version of this.

The scrubs that fit just right. The pen that writes exactly the way you like—and therefore should never, under any circumstances, be casually handed to someone who says, “Can I borrow this?”

We all know how that story ends.

And maybe it’s the scrub hat you reach for without even thinking about it.

It fits. It feels good. Your hair works with it. You know how it’s going to feel several hours from now, not just when you first put it on.

There you are.

That little thought actually says a lot about how we look at things here at MedCap®.

We make medical scrub hats, but we’ve never thought they should be something you choose simply because of a season.

A comfortable scrub hat has to work on an ordinary Tuesday.

And the Tuesday after that.

It has to make sense when the holiday decorations are everywhere, when spring finally shows up, when summer somehow arrives again—and on all those completely unremarkable days in between.

That’s why we pay attention to the things that aren't necessarily flashy but matter when you're actually wearing a scrub cap: comfortable coverage, adjustable fits, breathable cotton fabrics, satin-lined options for hair that appreciates a little less friction, and construction made for being worn and washed again and again.

Of course, we like the fun part too.

Colors. Prints. Something a little different. A scrub hat that works with your scrubs—or absolutely doesn't match them because you decided you liked it anyway.

We're fine with that.

Because what you wear to work can still have a little personality.

And maybe that's where the holiday displays actually got us thinking.

There will always be another season coming.

Another display going up.

Another countdown appearing on our phones before we are emotionally prepared to see it.

But the things that become our favorites usually aren't favorites because of a date on the calendar.

They're the things we keep reaching for.

The things that feel like us.

The things that simply do their job well.

So go ahead and enjoy the holiday stuff showing up early.

Look around. Find something wonderful for somebody you love. Maybe find something for yourself while you're at it.

And if you happen to discover one of those things that makes you think—

Oh, there you are.

So go ahead and enjoy the holiday stuff showing up early.

Look around. Find something wonderful for somebody you love. And if something catches your eye for you, well... there’s nothing wrong with that either.

Because every once in a while, among all the new things, the seasonal things and the things somebody insists we absolutely need, we find something that just fits.

Something we use.

Something we enjoy.

Something we keep reaching for long after the season has moved on.

And maybe that's really the best kind of find.

The one that makes you smile and think—

Oh, there you are.
